About Seltzer Creative Group
Nine months of the year, all day long, we drink cup after cup of hot coffee so that we can think, draw, code and innovate for our extraordinary group of clients.
The other three months of the year we drink iced coffee.
Founded in 2003 by Thomas Seltzer, owner and creative director, Seltzer Creative Group’s goal is to return “design” to its original meaning: a synonym for “plan.” We focus on problem solving. We help our clients hone their most marketable ideas, figure out the best way to communicate them, and then bring them into the world in the most memorable, beautiful, effective way we can. The key to this process is establishing a rapport with our clients. Many of them have been with us more than 5 years. Some have been with us since the beginning. We’d love you to join them.
Thomas Seltzer
Founder and Creative Director
Seltzer Creative Group LLC was founded by Thomas Seltzer, who grew up in University City, Missouri, a town which has produced hundreds of talented professional musicians, and also Tom. He earned a B.A. in History at Columbia University, dropped out of Pratt Institute, and spent several years doing design and
publications on Wall Street – for Nomura Securities, Deutsche Bank and finally Lehman Brothers, whose collapse, he maintains, can in no way be traced back to him.
After spending time thereafter designing, illustrating and Art Directing for various publications around New York, he founded Seltzer Creative Group (formerly Seltzer Studio) in 2003, whose mission is to create agency level designs for businesses that can’t afford agency level prices. SSG is located near the Gowanus Canal in Brooklyn, NY, whose sudden glut of hipsters, he maintains, can in no way be traced back to him.
Olena Protsenko
Graphic Designer, Web Designer
Olena was born and raised in Kyiv, Ukraine, and moved to NYC when she was 10. She started out on the path to becoming a veterinarian due to her love of animals, but ended up following her passion for the arts. She graduated from Queens College with a B.A. in Graphic Design. She worked for Men’s Health magazine as an intern and discovered her love of web and print design.
She has a passion of all things typographic and a fascination with color. She is so excited to have joined Seltzer Creative Group where she gets to create amazing designs, and learn an abundance of new skills.
“There are three responses to a piece of design—yes, no, and WOW! Wow is the one to aim for.” – Milton Glaser

“Tom is more than just a graphic designer. He is a communications expert that listens to his clients to find out what they are trying to accomplish so that each piece he designs effectively translates the message.
Tom is a true professional – stays on task; doesn’t miss deadlines; always reachable and dependable. He takes feedback well and adjusts to any changes to promotions or concepts midstream without missing a beat.”
Erin Corcoran, VP Marketing/Public Relations, The Deal LLC

“I’ve leveraged Tom’s skills since the inception of founding my own company and I consider him to be a key business partner – I previously worked with him when I was at an investment bank so I was very familiar with his work.
Tom has been creating customized graphics for our research publications and he designed many of the graphics that appear on our company’s website. Since our research publications are time sensitive and published frequently (up to 18 times per year), it is critical that we work with someone that gets the job done right and done promptly. Tom does that. Most importantly, Tom is able to take my concepts, ideas, and chicken scratchings and turn them into something that reflects the point I was trying to bring across. Given that our publications are fairly technical and engineering-focused, this is quite an accomplishment. I strongly encourage anyone to engage Tom for his unique expertise.”

“That he is good at what he does almost goes without saying but what separates him from all the talented designers I’ve worked with in the past is the fact I genuinely enjoy working with him and marvel at his artistry.”

“I have had the pleasure of working with Tom on significant projects over the past 8 years. It goes without saying that Tom is a gifted designer.
He is exceptionally business savvy, organized and intelligent with a deep understanding of business and technology issues, which positions him as a top notch creative consultant on so many levels. His illustrations are award-worthy and capture editorial nuances that go unnoticed by other designers. He always delivers on time and manages expectations on his work process.”
